Behind the scenes of the largest CEM Conference & Exhibition yet

Organised by ILM Exhibitions, CEM 2025 brought together leading experts in emission monitoring and air quality to exchange the latest scientific and technical insights. Over the course of three days, the programme featured more than 150 oral and poster presentations, exploring topics such as AI-driven data analysis, digitalisation of monitoring systems, carbon footprint assessment, and emerging micro-pollutants.

Clean air inside and out

Here’s an interesting fact: during the 16th CEM Conference & Exhibition, the air inside the GR Ljubljana Congress and Convention Centre was three times cleaner than outdoors. The data came from AirVoice, one of the exhibitors showcasing innovative air quality monitoring technologies at the event.

A fitting detail for a conference devoted entirely to air quality and emission monitoring. For three days in late September, 620 participants from 48 countries gathered at GR Ljubljana, Slovenia’s largest event complex, to discuss the science, technology, and policy shaping the future of cleaner air.

Branding and technical setup

The venue supplied all infrastructure and services in-house, including construction, technical equipment and branding.

Event highlights

Sustainability in practice

Hosting a global event on emission monitoring came with a natural expectation of environmental responsibility. At GR Ljubljana, sustainability is built into daily operations. The venue powered CEM 2025 partly through its own solar power plant, installed on the roof of the exhibition halls.

Branding and technical setup

The Octa modular system formed the backbone of the exhibition, allowing around 80 exhibitors to create clean and customised stands with minimal environmental impact. Panels, counters and back walls were wrapped in vinyl and forex prints, designed to highlight each exhibitor’s identity while maintaining visual harmony across the show floor. Even the finer details such as LCD screens, information panels, power connections and lighting were coordinated by the venue’s technical team to ensure the setup ran smoothly.

CEM 2025 was not only well organised but also visually refined. Every hall, corridor and counter carried the event’s identity, from large wall graphics to subtle directional signs. The visual language was clear and consistent, giving the entire complex a unified and professional atmosphere without feeling overdesigned.

A perfect setting for emission monitoring professionals

All infrastructure, furnishings and logistics were provided locally, reducing the environmental footprint by avoiding long transport routes and external suppliers.

Delegates and exhibitors were encouraged to use public transport, supported by free access to Ljubljana’s LPP city bus network throughout the event. Inside the halls, waste separation and recycling systems were in place, and materials used for stands and branding were designed for repeated use at future events.

Even the air quality told a story. Continuous readings taken during the conference confirmed that the indoor air inside the venue was three times cleaner than outdoors, underscoring GR Ljubljana’s long-term commitment to healthy and sustainable event environments.

A perfect setting for emission monitoring professionals

What truly set the experience apart was the venue team. Having delivered international conferences and exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East for over 20 years, we can confidently say the Ljubljana team ranks among the very best we have collaborated with. Their communication was excellent, making the entire process feel easy, and their flexibility with planning was invaluable.“
